For struggling students, a tutor is a mentor.  Tutors often improve a child's confidence and help them develop a more rounded knowledge base.  Tutors are often the one to turn on the ah-ha switch for something a child learns in school, but doesn't fully understand.

 

Because I work individually or in small groups, I am able to work at the child's individual pace,  I am also able to dive deeper into the content area to help the student learn as much as possible about a topic.

 

Children are more willing to open up to a tutor, Many times childeren listen better to another adult rather then to their parents during homework time.

 

Tutoring provides challenges for gifted children by keeping their mind stimulated by allowing the student to work at his/her individual pace.
